instead she opened the fishing basket and brought out two fresh fish from the five that were in the basket and she told me to hook them to the fishing line.”
“She had the fish all along?” lance laughed.
“Yes she did, we then went back to the dock and mama showed papa the fish. You should have seen his face.” Sheryl giggled.
“I can imagine.”
“He was astonished and mama kept gloating, and I tried to keep a straight face through it all. I wanted to tell papa but I was with mama on this one, we were all starving and papa was not going to let us eat till something was caught.”
“So your mum saved the day.”
“Yes, she did and until this day papa doesn’t know what really happened.”
“That sounds like fun” Lance said wishing he and his parents spent time together like that.
“One of my favorite days” Sheryl told him with a sweet smile.
“You have a beautiful smile” he told her softly.
“Um…thank you” Sheryl said feeling a little nervous.
“I have never been fishing with my parents like that” Lance said with a tinge of sadness in his voice.
“It’s never too late” Sheryl said wondering why he sounded so sad.
