“Sheryl is my partner”
“Ah, I get it now”
“She didn’t seem too pleased about it though”
“I don’t blame her”
“Me either but we will see if the picture changes”
“Well good luck with that, she’s a tough one” Ed said as he got up and started walking in the direction of his room.
“Where are you off to?”
“Taking a little nap” Ed said before he shut his bedroom door behind him.
Lance closed his eyes and thought about Sheryl. He wondered what made her tick. He was used to girls throwing themselves at him but not her. No, she was different. She didn’t even seem remotely impressed by him, quite the opposite in fact. She seemed to despise him and he didn’t understand why. She didn’t even openly declare her dislike for him. She remained polite and civil around him but he could still sense that there was some underground tension. He wondered why she didn’t lash out at him, after all isn’t that what girls did when they disliked someone, didn’t they rant and rave and make a public spectacle of themselves. So why was Sheryl so cool and collected, what really went on inside that pretty head of hers. The mystery of it all intrigued him. He knew he could not approach her like other girls, she was different and he wanted to know what different was like. Yes, he needed to know and this project was the perfect opportunity.
