She reached over to her desk and grabbed a list of names and begun saying out loud who was paired with who.
“Angie and Brian, Mark and Susie, Sheryl and Lance….”
“No” Sheryl exclaimed and put her hand over her mouth when she realized she had said that out loud.
“Is there a problem?” Ms. Witt asked her directly.
“No, No problem at all” Sheryl lied.
“Good, because if there was you would just have to deal with it” she said coldly before proceeding with her task.
For the remainder of class, Sheryl’s mind wondered at how she was going to cope on this project. It was bad enough being paired with someone who had been branded teacher’s pet, but that person was Lance. The one person she had gone out of her way to avoid for very obvious reasons. One, she resented the favoritism he was shown and two, he was a ladies’ man. The last thing she wanted was spending time with him on this project only to hear later on that she had been branded as one of his catches. There was no way out of this one. Had it been any other teacher she could have convinced them for a change but no, this was the iron lady herself. Ms. Witt was right, she would just have to deal with it but Sheryl made up her mind to make sure this project was finished as soon as possible.
When the period was over Ms. Witt told them when their projects were due and left. Sheryl packed her stuff and got up from her desk, she was just about to make......
