learnt responsibility at a tender young age, making sure Lance was ready for school, ready for bed on time and all the activities that came with looking after a younger sibling. She had thought that as they grew older, he would take on some of the responsibility but he seemed to be in no hurry to grow up. But then again boys will be boys.
“Lance!” she shouted again this time the impatience apparent in her voice.
“Am done” Lance said as he rushed down the stairs, pulling his t-shirt over his head and straightening it over his torso.
“You hadn’t dressed?” she asked in unbelief.
“I was just changing t-shirts” he defended himself.
“Yeah whatever, your car is in the driveway and Henry has packed all your things” she told him.
“Okay, thanks” he said as he hugged her goodbye.
“Be good” she told him as he released her and made his way to the door.
“Aren’t I always?” he said and turned around and gave a boyish grin.
“You hair is not combed”
“Oh well” he said indifferently and shut the door behind him. A couple of minutes later, Mackenzie heard the sound of his car speeding down the driveway. She let out a small smile and sighed.
