Universal Warrior (Chapter 10, Page 58)

.....remember how she got here but the last thing she could remember was struggling with her attacker, hearing Lance calling out to her in the background and then everything went blank. She pondered hard but still her memory was vague. She lifted her hand and touched her right cheek and winced at the pain, it seemed her cheek was slightly swollen at her cheek bone but it didn’t seem too bad as far as Sheryl could tell.
Just then the door opened and Lance walked in, he moved over to the desk opposite the bed and grabbed the chair in front of it. He carried it to the bedside and put it down before he sat down.
“Hey, how are you doing?” he asked softly looking at her with compassion.
“Apart from the pain, I’m okay” she told him.
“The pain will soon subside” he told her.
“My leg feels numb”
“Well Dr. Benson had to give you an anesthetic when he was giving you the stitches” he informed her.
“Is that why my hand is numb too?”
“Yes, the cuts were pretty deep”
“How will I explain this at school?” she said in a worried tone, how was she supposed to explain something that she didn’t understand herself.
“You’ll be fine by Monday” he reassured her.
